Description

About Shirodhara Oil

Aarviyon Shirodhara Oil is formulated for the therapy it is named after: a continuous stream of warm oil poured over the forehead for thirty to sixty minutes. The base is cold-pressed sesame infused with Brahmi, Bhringraj, Jatamansi and Ashwagandha — the classical Medhya herbs that act on the nervous system.

Shirodhara is one of the most striking therapies in Panchkarma. The steady, unvarying stream on the forehead is thought to work on the nervous system directly, and clinical interest in it has centred on anxiety, insomnia and stress. It is traditionally performed by a trained therapist rather than at home.

Key Benefits

  • Deep Calm — The classical therapy for an overactive mind.
  • Better Sleep — Traditionally used for chronic insomnia.
  • Stress Relief — Supports a settled nervous system.
  • Mental Clarity — Medhya herbs support focus and memory.
  • Headache Comfort — Traditionally used for tension headaches.
  • Hair & Scalp — Bhringraj and Brahmi nourish the scalp.
  • Therapist Grade — Formulated in volume for professional sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I do Shirodhara at home?

A: It is possible with the right equipment and an assistant, but the technique matters — stream height, temperature and consistency all affect the result. A trained therapist is strongly preferable.

Q: How many sessions are needed?

A: Traditionally a course of seven to fourteen consecutive days, though many people find a single session deeply relaxing.

Q: Can the oil be reused within a session?

A: Yes, it is recirculated during the session. It should not be stored and reused afterwards.

Q: Will it make my hair oily?

A: Yes, considerably. A mild herbal shampoo the next morning is the usual approach.

Q: Why sesame oil?

A: It is the classical base: warming, penetrating and stable at the temperatures used.
