Description

About Abhyanga Massage Oil

Aarviyon Abhyanga Massage Oil is made the classical way: cold-pressed sesame oil slowly infused with Dashmool, Bala, Ashwagandha and Nirgundi over repeated heating cycles until the herbs have given up their properties to the oil. It is the same Sneha Kalpana method Ayurvedic texts describe, and it cannot be rushed.

Abhyanga — daily self-massage — is one of the few Ayurvedic practices recommended for literally everybody, every day. Classical texts credit it with softening the skin, easing the joints, steadying the nervous system and slowing the effects of ageing. Sesame is the base because it is warming and penetrates deeply, which suits Vata above all.

Key Benefits

  • Vata Pacifying — Warming and grounding for restless bodies and minds.
  • Joint Comfort — Dashmool and Bala support easy, comfortable movement.
  • Deep Skin Nourishment — Sesame penetrates far deeper than most carrier oils.
  • Better Sleep — Evening abhyanga calms the nervous system.
  • Muscle Relief — Eases stiffness after work or exercise.
  • Circulation — Massage supports healthy circulation and lymph flow.
  • Classical Method — Traditional Sneha Kalpana herb infusion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why sesame oil rather than coconut?

A: Sesame is warming and deeply penetrating, which suits Vata and most Indian climates. Coconut is cooling and better for Pitta and hot summers.

Q: How long should I leave it on?

A: Twenty to thirty minutes is ideal. Even ten minutes before a bath is worthwhile.

Q: Best time of day?

A: Morning before bathing is classical. Evening abhyanga is excellent for sleep.

Q: Will it stain clothes and towels?

A: Sesame oil can stain. Keep a dedicated towel for the purpose, as most households do.

Q: Can I use it on my scalp?

A: Yes. Classical abhyanga begins at the head.
